TOU/2

Basically right out our front door, The Top of Utah Half Marathon has become a tradition as well as one of our favorite races. The finish line is about a 1/2 mile from our house and the last mile of the course runs two blocks away. Because of this, our kids are able to walk up the street and cheer us on during the final stretch. This year's race was a warm one, but we both managed to set personal bests.

Ellie had to test out mom's running gear the evening before.

STATS
Kelly: 1:47:57 (chip time)
This was Kelly's second time running this race and his 6th half marathon overall.

Lindsey: 1:42:08 (chip time)
This was my 3rd year running this race and my 11th half marathon.

Lost

A hummingbird came into the garage and couldn't get out.

Dog Days of Summer

I'm not really sure where that phrase comes from or in what context to use it, but I couldn't think of any other title.

Some little moments from the past few weeks:

DON'T DO DRUGS!
Ethan had to have a gum grafting procedure a little of two weeks ago. We were a little nervous since the dentist said he usually doesn't do them on children (thanks for the reassurance). Well a horrible beginning with (to be brief) a whole-lotta UNprofessionalism (it's been a few weeks so I'm not quite as steamed and will not bore with the whole story), the actual procedure went well and he's pretty much healed all of the way. When Ethan went back to for the week checkup, the dentist said he healed faster than anyone he has worked on before. In addition to not losing a tooth, a plus side of this experience (I hope) is that Ethan got a little lesson on why he should not do drugs. After the surgery as all of the drugs were wearing off, Ethan was totally out of it, extremely nauseated, and threw up whenever he stood up. He really disliked it. I felt so sorry for the little guy, but I couldn't resist to let him know that the yucky feelings he had is what happens when you take drugs.

POTTY PARTY!!
So for the past three weeks Ellie has been wearing big girl panties. Yes, another lesson in patience. All it took was a little patience and a STICKER chart. Once she filled up the chart she got to go to Chuck E Cheese.

When she has to go # 2 it's still "making a meatball"(the words pee and poop are one in the same). She doesn't like "making a meatball" and so she holds it in (which we're a little concerned about) and so when it's time, it hurts. Because of this potty language people near by may often hear "Is a meatball trying to come out?" or "Do you need to make a meatball?"

GARDEN GALORE
Things we've been eating from our garden: onions, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini (bread), yellow squash, radishes, green peppers (kind of bitter?)
Things we're waiting on: pumpkins, cantaloupe (almost ready), cauliflower, carrots

D.O.C.O
Lot's of yummy food including Kelly's "best overall" ultimate chicken cordon blue and "best dessert" mango raspberry cobbler.

RANDOM

Ellie says that Brutis is her favorite dog.

A daily activity at our house is creating some kind of structure using all cushions and pillows. Here, Ethan built a "kid wash" and let Ellie try it out.
