Is "new normal" an oxymoron?

His second to last year in high school.  It's normally time for cross country meets including fun invitational filled with lots of runners  lots of spectators and hopes of making top 20 some to make it to Bob Firman in Boise.  With the "new normal" the invites are no longer masses of runners and crazy parents running around trying to snap pictures.  Instead only a specified number of runners to start every 5 minutes.  Parents not invited, however when the meets take place in a public park no one said we couldn't take our dog for a walk in the same place there happens to be a cross country meet.
When we got there we caught sight of Ethan doing his warm up.  He had air pods in so it took forever to get his attention.

Finally got his attention when was started running toward us.

Just after the start of Ethan's heat.

Final turn before the finish.  These were the 3 leaders of this heat.  It was interesting the way the runners were split up.  In some heats the lead runner would be all by their self.

We grew some vegetables in a garden this year.  Sometimes we forget to check for produce and then when we do we find an abnormally big zucchini.

The Hoka One One Postal Nationals
It's a 2 mile race around the track.  Ran in the evening under the lights.  It's kind of a fun atmosphere.  Ethan isn't into numbers and keeping track of his times over the years so I have no numbers to report.

Friday Night Lights.  When there's not much going on a Friday night we head over to the high school and watch the football game.  We ended up in the student section where no one sits.  It was interesting to be there among all of the masked up spectators.

The football game is the perfect social activity for two 6th grade girls.  Now that Ellie attends the neighborhood school she knows a lot more people at the games and had fun watching the "football boys" from her class playing on the side fields.

We need to figure out a good "mask station" area in our house.  For now, we have a clean pile and a dirty pile.

Cooper loves his outings to Coop's Loop

September 6th our Sunday drive took us to Bear Lake.  How we managed to not go anytime during summer is beyond me, but we were glad to enjoy an afternoon along the shore.  And of course it's Coop's favorite thing.  We wanted to get a milkshake while we were there but the line for the only place open was completely outrageous (due to several joints being closed on Sunday), so the kids were okay with a f'real shake from the gas station (ugh!)

Getting out on the trails during fall is one of my favorites.
On September 19th was the day of the marathon I had signed up for but was canceled.  The Logan Marathon was still on (no busses to worry about during COVID), at one point I thought about signing up and running this new race but never got the motivation.  Instead I was solo heading up the canyon to run.  The fall colors were amazing and the pouring rain was refreshing (until I was freezing afterward).  I got so soaked that my phone was ruined (but still worked).

About a week later I headed up Logan Canyon again to visit another favorite.  This was my first and only time this year to go to the Old Juniper tree.

Getting out on the trails as a family in the fall.  This hike took us up in Logan Canyon along the Logan river trail from Spring Hollow to Guinava Campground and back.

Who's taller?  Dad or son? Does the hair make the difference, verdict pending.
