New Year's Eve for Ethan and his Friends was at our house. Kelly and I enjoyed the fun and games being had below us as we played the part of old people on New Year's Eve.
Farewell 2020
Although it was a strange, bumpy, not normal year with lots of road blocks, firsts, lasts, and lists of things we never could have imagined it was still another year that has gone by. Many were ready to bid good riddance to 2020, but the sentimental person I am still finds the end of a year bittersweet.
So much learned and endured during the year, and also so many memories made and special times enjoyed. Things I kind of like about living through a global pandemic:
masks --> didn't love them, really hated wearing them and especially teaching in one, but there's a certain comfort in hiding behind a mask.
Social Distancing --> I've loved that seating at performances and other places have been spread out. No tall people right in front blocking your view. Distance from strangers in large crowds, something I'd love to have stay.
Early during the original shut down, we ended up going on many family walks, hikes and Sunday drives. We made some fun memories that may not have happened in a normal year.
Grocery Pick up --> I've learned to take advantage of this service, and it has nothing to do with Covid, but it has become more prevalent. Driving up to the store and having everything put into the car. Awwww so nice. (however it does require a little organization on my side)
I think there are some more things that have come out of this that I've liked but not sure at the moment what they may be. As I type it's well into halfway of the next year (2021) and we have just been given the green light for no masks at school. This has been interesting with my class and I'm sure I'll post a little more about it when the time comes. However, there is light at the end of this pandemic. When it started I was naive to think that it was only a couple week shut down. I was sure school would start in August and life would be back to normal. Little did I know it really would last over a year. How fortunate we are to live where we live. We have not had to deal with the shut down and restriction that many places around the country have had to deal with. We really have gone about our lives pretty normal. I'm so glad that kids have been able to continue going to school in person.
Farewell 2020, thanks for the lessons, the interesting events and the memories.
