New Year's Eve 2020

New Year's Eve for Ethan and his Friends was at our house.  Kelly and I enjoyed the fun and games being had below us as we played the part of old people on New Year's Eve.

 Farewell 2020

Although it was a strange, bumpy, not normal year with lots of road blocks, firsts, lasts, and lists of things we never could have imagined it was still another year that has gone by.  Many were ready to bid good riddance to 2020, but the sentimental person I am still finds the end of a year bittersweet.

So much learned and endured during the year, and also so many memories made and special times enjoyed.  Things I kind of like about living through a global pandemic:

masks --> didn't love them, really hated wearing them and especially teaching in one, but there's a certain comfort in hiding behind a mask.

Social Distancing --> I've loved that seating at performances and other places have been spread out.  No tall people right in front blocking your view.  Distance from strangers in large crowds, something I'd love to have stay.

Early during the original shut down, we ended up going on many family walks, hikes and Sunday drives.  We made some fun memories that may not have happened in a normal year.

Grocery Pick up -->  I've learned to take advantage of this service, and it has nothing to do with Covid, but it has become more prevalent.  Driving up to the store and having everything put into the car.  Awwww so nice.  (however it does require a little organization on my side)

I think there are some more things that have come out of this that I've liked but not sure at the moment what they may be.  As I type it's well into halfway of the next year (2021) and we have just been given the green light for no masks at school.  This has been interesting with my class and I'm sure I'll post a little more about it when the time comes.  However, there is light at the end of this pandemic.  When it started I was naive to think that it was only a couple week shut down.  I was sure school would start in August and life would be back to normal.  Little did I know it really would last over a year.  How fortunate we are to live where we live.  We have not had to deal with the shut down and restriction that many places around the country have had to deal with.  We really have gone about our lives pretty normal.  I'm so glad that kids have been able to continue going to school in person.

Farewell 2020, thanks for the lessons, the interesting events and the memories.

Christmas 2020

 Christmas Eve

Christmas Morning
We had two trees, the one we found, cut down and drug home and our artificial tree which we had downstairs.
Santa found the tree and stockings upstairs.

The perfect gift for a slime making girl.

Cooper loved his new toy.

December 2020

The last month of the year.  Of course due to the global pandemic, the holidays this year were a little different.

But, there was still awesome sketching and drawing going on.

Do you recognize this face?

How about this gentleman?
hint - he's an ancestor and can be found in Grandma Terri's no touch room.

Not only was there a global pandemic but the weather was not normal.  We did not have a lot of snow in December.  This meant we could run in areas that end up closed up during the winter.

The boat
use to be white.

This 2020 Christmas we decided to follow the inspiration from Clark Griswold and try to have an old fashioned Christmas.  We started by venturing up to Idaho to find and cut down the perfect Krohn family Christmas tree.

It was a beautiful, sunny day and actually quite warm up in the Mountains.
We ended up outside of Preston, Idaho

Kids, here's the tree!!
Kelly, don't you think it's a little big?

After taking a few feet off, it was still a little too tall.
Wasn't the fullest of trees, but it had a nice simplistic look to it that I loved.

Ellis is always creating.

Again, not much snow in December.

A rare snowfall in Black Smith Fork Canyon during a long run.
So beautiful.

Another original sketch from Ellie.
Do you recognize?

12 days of Christmas family game.
"What do you meme?"
Everyone was super excited to be playing.

This is a house along a regular running route.  It's seriously the cutest.  And it's especially the picture of a magical, snowy, Christmas season, house.

Mixed things up with 12 days of Christmas and pajamas came earlier in the month.

Finally some good snow.

Dance World (not my thing)
But, we managed to get the lashes on this time.
Magnetic lashes much better than the glue stuff.

One of Ellie's teachers (language arts) Mrs. Reid came to their show.

Looking at Christmas lights scavenger hunt
We found the Wannabe Griswold's house

And a new dancing with the music lights house.
This house had a fun change of Christmas music.

This dog loves winter runs up a snow trail.

After more restrictions in the fall, they finally had the end of season awards, etc. meeting for Cross Country.  Ethan got some kind of smart A*# award.

Making Christmas Sugar Cookies
It's tradition.  I always burn up the hand mixer mixing the cookie dough for our favorite sugar cookie recipe.  This year I bought a new one before making the cookies.  I really need to just buy a heavy duty mixer.  (maybe I'd bake more if I did haha)

I spy a very big inflated santa

Snow Shoeing (a.k.a. basically hiking in the snow)
We headed up to Tony Grove and found a great trail and awesome snow for snowshoeing.
