more from January 2022

Other events from January  included:
Ethan becoming an Aggie.
He was accepted and awarded an good sized scholarship for grades and ACT scores.

Another birthday in the house.
44 years
Got to party in the early wee hours with four fantastic friends.

Ellie had her first volleyball tournament.
She started club volleyball in December and has LOVED playing.

During birthday week I was feeling under the weather.  Due to my job I decided I better take a COVID test and turned out I was positive.  Flashbacks from last time taking a pregnancy test.
This resulted in a full day of writing lessons plans for the week I had to be out of school.
Symptoms were mainly annoying cold-like symptoms, I did end up losing my sense of smell.  I guess I was glad that I had been vaccinated and had received the booster not long before.  Either I would have had worse symptoms, or not.  I've always been a skeptic of flu shots and such, but ended up getting these vaccines because I enjoy traveling and didn't want to be restricted.  So my skeptic side thinks I've been more sick having the vaccines than not, but it may also have been from weakened immune system due to wearing masks all of last school year.  who knows???

Ethan ended up being sick as well.  We did not test him, but assumed he had COVID as well, so he stayed home for the week with me.  My sweet friend Katrina sent us some Crumbl, Yummmmm!!!

Finished the 1000 piece puzzle that we started during Christmas break.

Cooper is still hanging in there 3 legs and all.

Cooper has been shedding A LOT lately.
We are thinking that losing a limb must affect his body in a way that causes this.

Happy 18th Birthday Ethan!!!!

and before we knew it, he was an "adult".

So many emotions with this post of our baby boy who came into this world to change our lives for the better, forever.  Time, life .  . . . . . . . it's such a bitter sweet thing.  We look forward to what's next, to get through this "phase" and yet don't want things to change and don't want them to grow up.  We look back and everything seems like yesterday.  18 YEARS OLD!!! How did this happen???

18 ten dollar bills and 18 lottery tickets that he can now play legally (well, after crossing the border into Idaho).

Started the morning with some bacon and pancakes, then headed off to school.

He is a working man (sweeper for a few hours a day at his old elementary school, super flexible and perfect for this kid), so after he got off work we headed to his favorite, Texas RoadHouse then came home for some birthday chocolate lasagna.

His cute friend Keslie joined us for dinner and dessert.  She gave him the cutest and super meaningful gift.
Also, I think it was by accident that they are wearing matching outfits (how cute is that).

The following Friday, with the help of Keslie and his friends Brennan and Colby, we threw a surprise dance party for Ethan.  I kept thinking that he knew, but when it happened he was totally surprised.  We were working around basketball game that night and there was also the opening of a Dutch Bros. here in Logan but we pulled it off in surprising him and the disco lights, speaker and music all put together by Kelly were a big success.  From what we could hear upstairs it was a fun dance party full of mosh pits (is that the right term?) and the likes.  Cooper even joined in the fun several times.  Ellie and her friend Jessi helped set things up.  I helped somewhat but was feeling sick (which turned out to be COVID)
