April started off with Spring break which is normal for our area. This year with Cooper's health we were hesitant to make any travel plans so we stayed close to home except for an unexpected trip to Boise.
Sadly a neighbor/friend of Kelly's family passed away at this time. We ended up making a very quick trip to Boise for the funeral, drove up, stayed the night and then drove back after the funeral the next day. This was also Cooper's last visit with Grandma and Grandpa and his last trip away.
While in Boise we celebrated Dad's birthday where he got to enjoy some of Grandma's apple cinnamon cake.
We visited Dutch Bros. (even though there is now one in Logan)
Over the break Ellie was invited to go to Lava Hot springs with her friend Jessi. They had a great time swimming in the warm pools and Ellie was glad to be able to have some fun during the week.
At the end of spring break the time we dreaded fell upon us. Cooper had not been eating much and was not enjoying the things that normally made him so excited, even as he was getting more sick each day. As we saw him lose interest in pretty much everything we knew it was his time. One of the biggest indicators was when Kelly would come home. Normally Cooper was so excited and always acknowledge Kelly with the best greetings. But even this daily ritual he had become uninterested in. It was super sad when this happened.
The appointment was made so we spent as much time with our beloved Cooper as we could. On his last day before his appointment Cooper took a very short trip to the field with Kelly, road in the truck with Kelly for a few errands and even had a last visit to Coop's Loop.
It was such a strange morning/day. We were just hanging around, hovering around him until it was time.
April 8th at noon. It was not our first time saying goodbye to a beloved pet, but this time it was much too soon. It was just a few weeks shy of Cooper's 5th birthday.
Rest in Peace sweet Coopster!!
Later in April we headed back to Boise for Easter weekend.
The other Krohn's were there and the kids enjoyed a sunny easter egg hunt in Grandma's backyard and we all enjoyed a yummy dinner where we visited with cousins and got to see Great Grandpa Larson for a bit. Great Grandma was not feeling the best so she was not able to come over.
We were able to attend Sacrament meeting with Grandma and Grandpa before heading back home.
Toward the end of April Ellie and I had a girls trip down to Lehi for a weekend volleyball tournament. This was her last of the season and she was so excited for this multi-day event.
We drove down Friday midday for the Friday evening matches and all day Saturday games.
Everyone on the team was able to book rooms at the same hotel, so after the first night of games the girls all enjoyed some time in the pool and hot tub.
Her team started out a little cold, but as they played each set they got better and better. It was so fun to watch these girls play and progress over the season. So much improvement in all aspects of the game and learning to play as a team. Ellie still loves volleyball and cannot wait until the next season begins.
Over 45 and almost 50 means there are certain routine procedures that need to be done. This is Kelly after said procedure and recovering from the drugs. Katie Couric would be proud. #colonoscopycansavealife
Track Meet
This was an invitational. Ethan ran on the 4x800 relay team. We almost did not attend, but were so glad we did especially since he had his best personal time. He was super excited and we were excited for him. If I remember correctly, his team was toward last place and Ethan caught them up to make top 3 and medal.
Very end of the month we were able to get some senior pictures taken. We also took some pics for mission pictures as well. Everything has been making me sad. It's so awesome to see our kids grow into wonderful individuals, but so hard to let go at the same time.
