ThE LiTtLE tHinGs

Everyday one of our kids says, or does, something that finds us saying "We need to write that down."  Well, everyday I DON'T write it down and eventually it gets forgotten.  This blog has turned into our way of catching all those little things and then print it off into a book on an annual basis.  Unfortunately, only a minimal amount of little things even make it onto our blog.  The other day I was talking to a friend and she mentioned she writes things on post-its and puts it in her journal.  So, I'm trying the post-its.

Here are a few:
  • The other day I had an obsessive/compulsive episode of pulling out my gray hairs (all of a sudden they are showing up like crazy).  Anyhow, I walked into the kitchen and complained to Ethan about getting old and gray.  Ethan, very nonchalantly replied:  "Mom, you need 'Nice-N-Easy'.  You just spray it in  your hair and it's all the color you want."
  • Ellie had been stealing tic tacs from her brother's room.  One day she came into the living room making a funny face with her mouth.  I interrogated her about what was in her mouth.  She replied (smiling with orange in her teeth) "It's a cheese stick."
  • After failing at trying to convince her dad that she didn't need to brush her teeth yet by telling him she was hungry and needed a cheese stick Ellie comes running into the kitchen:  "Mom (in a whiney voice), can I have a cheese stick?"  Me:  "What did dad say?"  Ellie:  "Don't tell him."
