We did our pumpkin carving a few evenings before Halloween. Even with all the templates of possible jack-o-lanterns both Ethan and Ellie designed their own. Ethan did all of his own designing as well as carving, Ellie still benefits from dad's help for the carving.
On Halloween Ethan had school which included the annual parade (I'm still always in awe that our school celebrates Halloween with the costume parade and all) and Ellie went to her preschool party. Afterward we treated at Dad's work like we do every year and then joined friends for trick or treating throughout the neighborhood.
This year we actually let Ethan go out with his friends to trick or treat the neighborhood on his own. They were so excited to be out . . . . . . . by themselves . . . . . . .AFTER dark.
Dad, Mom, and Ellie joined our friends the Reeders and their two youngest for our own trick or treating, however we did not cover as much ground as the boys were able to do.
Our Soul Taker and Bat Girl getting ready to go trick or treating. It was a frigid evening so Ellie's costume ended up covered by a coat for the night.

Ethan and some buddies all decided on the same costume weeks before.

At one point as we were taking the little kids around we saw the four Soul Takers running by in their faceless attire. It was so cute/funny to see them and every once in a while we could hear their loud voices down the street (Ethan's in particular stood out). Ethan had a BLAST and was able to cover a whole lot more area which meant a ton more candy.
