May 2022 - or the Month where we decided to BUY a house, and SELL a house, GRADUATE a kid, wrap up a school year, MOVE classrooms and . . . .

Teacher appreciation week.
Fun to announce to the neighborhood and all the spoils at school.

In the middle of the school day I received a random text from one of Ellie's friends.  This was at a field trip they attended at the Bridgerland Technical College.

Random May:
Carne asada fries from the Pollo Azteca taco truck.
So GOOOOD!!

Kelly and Ethan attended the Supercross Races at Rice Eccles stadium.

Happy Mother's day 2022.
My greatest calling.  I'm not sure how we got to be so lucky to have such amazing kids.
Motherhood (parenthood) is such a wonderful thing.  I can't imagine not having these two in my life, it wouldn't be complete.

May means the wrap up of track season.  Ethan had one more regular track meet.
He ran the mile which he had not really done throughout the season.

Ethan ran an awesome race and ended up with a PR for the mile.

District Track Meet
4x800 meter relay.

What do you do with a life size poster of yourself?

For my birthday Kelly gave me tickets to a Coldplay concert in Phoenix.
I took this kid along and had so much fun.
We flew down Wednesday night and had quite the adventure getting our rental car.  First we waited hours to get up to the counter, apparently the computers were down and every rental company was backed up.  The poor workers at our company were handed quite a night of work, but they seemed to handle it well considering.  We finally got our car and went down to the garage to get it.  Before going through the doors to the garage a man approached us with a story about trying to get home to his grandma (or something) and that no one would listen and he was just trying to get there.  I started by telling him there is no way we would be giving a stranger a ride, but he went off on how we were like everyone else and wouldn't listen to his story.  He kept talking and talking and started moving closer to us.  I was willing to give him money but I knew I had big bills in my wallet and I didn't want him to see that if I opened it so I asked Ethan if he had any cash.  Luckily he had a few dollars so we gave the man a few dollars and went on our way happy to get away and little worried he may be following us.  At this point it was after midnight and there was no one really around.  I was grateful to have Ethan with me.  So we continued to our spot to find our car and as we walked up to it there were people in it and it was starting up.  I went up to the driver's side and worried about startling the woman inside.  When I told her she was in the car we just got, she said it was assigned to her.  I asked for her paper and she didn't have it.  She apologized and said they had waited so long, (which we had too).  I didn't know what to do as they were already in the car pulling out so we headed back up to the chaos.  As we passed by where the man was luckily we found that he had wandered off.  We headed back to the company and surpassed the still long line.  They helped us after a while, apologized, and finally got us another car.  We made our way to it, no one was in it, and attempted to drive out of the garage.  But WAIT, it couldn't end that easily.  When we got to the gate where the attendant checks the man working scanned the car and asked for my license.  He asked if another name that I'd never head of was in the car and I said no.  He proceded to say that the car we were in was assigned to someone else, REALLY!?!  Frustration rose again, but after a few minutes of the worker calling and figuring things out he said we were fine to go.  As we drove away I was a little worried that it wasn't taken care of and that we'd be listed as stealing a rental car.
The story would probably be more entertaining if that had happened, but we ended up being fine and arrived to the Harpers' house well after 1a.m.

The next day Ethan and I did some last minute Senior ball shopping.  We were looking for a suit, like I said, last minute.  Prom season had just happened in the area so the stores were bare.  After hours of shopping we finally found one he actually liked at Kohls (of all the places LOL).
For the record, the shopping ended after flying back to SLC where on the way home he found the perfect color tie at the Layton Hills mall.
Coldplay was amazing; as always.

Just recording the current (May 2022) unleaded regular gas price.

Senior Ball 2022
Of course Ethan had the cutest date, Keslie.

Their group included Keslie and Ethan, Kalli & Brennan, Anna & Levi, Chloe & Adam, Brynlee & Colby

Last high school formal for this guy.
I have loved watching him throughout high school attending dances and enjoying himself with his friends.  This year has been so fun and so sad all at the same time.

Proud little sister

They had to stop by the house so we got a quick pic

Ethan has been friends with these boys for so long.  I'm so grateful for the great friends that Ethan has had throughout his life and especially through high school.

Cutest couple

Sometime during this crazy end of the school year, end of Ethan's school days, we came upon a house we liked, looked at it, liked it enough to go through the effort to see if it fits in our budget and future plans, put our house up for sale, put an offer on the new (used) house, it was accepted and then our house was under contract within 5 days of listing.  We had a few weeks before closing for both houses and everything seemed to fall into place.  Talk about good time timing (NOT REALLY).  So much to say about this, but maybe another time.  I thought I started early so I'd be ready when moving day arrived.  Keep reading to see how it actually turned out LOL

Ethan ended up qualifying for the state track meet for the 4x800 meter relay.  The state meet was at BYU and was a two day event.  His team did not place, but they did well and Ethan had a fantastic time with friends and was able to be there to cheer on his girl Keslie as she competed in the hurdles and sprints.
Kelly was able to go down for the state track meet and I got to watch the race over Facetime through the phone.  :-) I enjoyed my dry warm seat as it was cold and rainy at the race.

afterward the sun came out.

The following Sunday was Grandma and Grandpa Krohn were on their way to Arizona for Sammie's graduation and were able to be here for Ethan receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood.  Such a special day for him and to have Dad and Grandpa there.

And then the following Sunday was Seminary Graduation.
I am so grateful for the Seminary program especially since we have never been any good at studying scriptures as a family.  Ethan has had great seminary teachers during high school and I know that they have been a HUGE influence on him and his growth and faith in God.

After Seminary graduation was the Spring OSPY Awards.  I don't know what that acronym stands for but it is an awards ceremony for spring sports.
Proud of the hard work and dedication that this kid has put in over the years with sports he has played.  In high school it included soccer, cross country and track.

Ellie's school had a awards assembly but parents were not invited.  Instead they streamed it online so we could watch at our leisure.  And because they had no room for parents.

So proud of this girl and her hard work and dedication to school and always trying her best.

One of her classes was an art class.  They did a self portrait where they took a picture and then sketched in the other half.  I think she did a fabulous job.  Love the talent of this girl.  She LOVES drawing, sketching, and painting and does such an amazing job.  She continues to get better and better.  One of the things she has been working on is realistic portraits of people.  I know I am biased in my opinion but she really is talented.

May 27th
Last day of school.
Last day of high school.
(but before graduation)

Last day before the Senior Banquet that evening

Congratulations
Happy Graduation!!
You did it!!!
How can this be?

Graduation was the day after Memorial Day.
It would also be the day that we would get keys to our new house, which we had been hoping would have been Memorial day so we could move before graduation day.
The day of Graduation fell in the middle of the end of the school year for me and Ellie still had a few days of school.  We were also moving and getting our house ready to receive new owners.  We had family coming to visit.  Kind of crazy but also wonderful.  Just tried to stay focused on what mattered most.
The day of graduation started with Ellie going to school, me going to meetings for end of year, Dad working, and Ethan going to graduation practice.
Grandpa Ruben was visiting and Grandma and Grandpa Krohn were here so they actually moved some items to our new house.  Graduation was in the evening so we were able to get together for a late lunch early dinner at Beehive Grill.  Trina and her boys drove down for this occasion and was able to make it to lunch.  After eating we all headed over to the new house so we could show everyone.  Then we went to get ready and head to the USU spectrum for the ceremony.

Dropped this kid off to go join the line.

We sat patiently waiting and watching for our boy's smiling face to come across the monitor.

Finding our graduate after the ceremony was nuts but we eventually found him.  Luckily he got a few pictures with his buddies, but still missed some which makes me kind of sad.  Ethan was blessed with such great friends and we are so happy and grateful for that.

So glad that Grandpa Ruben was able to come for this momentous occasion.

And to have grandma and Grandpa Krohn

and to have Trina, Ace and Avery.  Grateful for this friendship that has lasted for over 30 years.

So proud of this boy of ours.
He's off to do wonderful things!!
Congratulations E.K.

And just for fun here's where he started in Kindergarten to Graduation.
