made us laugh

While in the car Ellie was eating a pear and crackers.  Every few minutes she would ask me to hold her pear.

Ellie: "Mom, give me my pear."

Me:  "You mean your pear that I'm holding for you?"

Ellie:  "Yes, my pear that you're holding; you Smart Ass."  (this was said in a very nonchalant, no big deal sort of way with the 4 year old "r" sound).

At this point Kelly and I looked at each other, trying to figure out if we had just heard what we heard.  After a few minutes, Kelly:  "What did you just say?"  Ellie:  "you smart ass."  Kelly:  "That's a bad word and you probably shouldn't say that."  She had no idea.

repeated lesson learned:  mom and dad need to watch our mouths.

Love their first curse words...especially when they use it right! So hard not to laugh while telling them...you can't say that!
