New Gear

I recently invested in some fun new running gear: yak traks.  It's too bad it's taken me 7 years to figure out I'd be a happier winter runner with these handy dandy accessories.

The next day I decided to take them out for a new test run.  It was a beautiful day and just a day or so after fresh snow.  I headed up to Providence Canyon and had the best run, definitely the best of the new year!
Along the way I looked over just in time to see this snowman.
Farther down the trail I saw this little snowman.
So, I stopped and made my own snowman.

I had a moment during my run that I just stopped, stood, and soaked in the beauty and fresh air around me.  It seriously brought me to tears.  It was an indescribable feeling of complete contentment and happiness, all was right in the world at that moment.  I'm sure I annoyed Kelly when I got home and went on and on about my experience.  It was such a great run, and when I turned around to head back down the canyon I'm pretty sure I had the cheesiest grin on my face.

A few days ago was my birthday.  I had a few hours to my self in the morning so I headed up the canyon for a run.

Hi Lindsey!
I love reading your blog about your amazing family! Happy belated Birthday too! I am in awe that Ethan is 10! How did that happen? And your running just inspires! {Well I'd say you are more like Pat, I still struggle to find the joy each day in it}. :) I am keeping up my goal of doing a half every fall and spring but that's about it. Are you doing Boston again this spring?
Happy Days!
