We had a great little getaway at the end of July. We headed up to Bear Lake to stay for a few days and just get away. Of course we happened to have everything booked on the coldest weekend of the summer, but we still had some wonderful family time.
The weather was unseasonably cold (like 50's and 60's), but that didn't stop us from enjoying the heated pool where we stayed.
For weeks Ellie had a loose tooth that was just barely hanging on. After a lot of wiggling and a few tears she finally managed to pull it out while we were waiting for the next tour of the Minnetonka Cave.
First tooth lost!
Don't let the sunshine in these pictures fool you. On this day of our trip it rained all morning and was SO cold. We waited for our tour in the rain in our car and just as it cleared it was time to head into the cave.
The cave was pretty cool and had hundreds of stairs to climb up and down. We had to watch our step because some of the stone built steps were quite slick. The kids did great despite some really steep climbs. They were impressed with all of the natural formations so I think that took their minds off of the work.
Minnetonka Cave was impressive and educational. Luckily it was big enough that no one felt too claustrophobic. When we got to the deepest part of the cave the tour guide turned the lights out so we could experience absolute true darkness. The kids thought the best part was when one of the other people on the crew passed gas in quite a loud manner. (pretty disgusting if you ask me)
Since it was cold we didn't spend as much time at the lake as we would have liked, but when we did go the temperature didn't stop the kids from enjoying the sand and the water.
Some other activities included eating at some of our favorite Bear Lake Restaurants and an evening family bike ride with a milk shake stop at LeBeau's.
Dad and Ethan enjoyed some time at the
Go Carts!!
Ellie was a little scared of the carts so we watched on the side lines.
