On our 3rd day of our trip we took it easy in the morning before heading into town to pick dad up from the airport.
A common sight in the midwest are the tall water towers in each community.
That evening, after picking Dad up from the airport, we headed over to Auntie Merlie's house to meet several aunts, uncles, and cousins. We got to feast on some authentic Filipino food and get to know our family. Auntie (Lola) Merlie and her husband, Robert, Uncle Rocky and Rose, my cousins Vanessa and her kids Victoria & Vinny, Belinda, Lee, and their daughter Gianna.
Auntie Merlie was such a great host.
The kids had so much fun meeting all of our Abalos relatives. They were especially impressed with the tradition that Lola Rose and Lola Merlie introduced to them. Apparently in the Philippines the great aunts/uncles always give money to the kids who come visit.
Little shy Victoria and shy Ellie each made a new friend/cousin
