Thanksgiving 2019

With a November snowstorm we headed up to Boise early the day before Thanksgiving to try to beat the weather.  We had some slick roads for the first bit, but not long after crossing into Idaho the roads cleared the rest of the way.

Early on Thanksgiving morning we headed downtown so Ethan and Kelly could run the Turkey Day 5K.  Ethan was legal and Kelly decided to be a bandit again with his friend Coop.  I was a booted spectator.

It was a lovely morning, hard to believe it was dumping almost two feet back at our house in Cache Valley.

Kelly ended up quite a ways back in the pack at the start, but they were in good canine company.

Ethan's goal was to do better than the year before.  He did awesome and was far enough in the front that there were not a lot of runners around him as he came in to the finish.
Again, he had not run much since xc ended so he wasn't trained for the run, but he did improve his time from last year, finishing at 19:51, 91 out of over 5,000 runners,  76th male, and 11th in his age group.

We ran in to one of his friends who was up for the holiday as well.

The kids were a little sad that none of the cousins were able to be in Boise, but they still found things to do to entertain themselves.

Thanksgiving was a great day of yummy food and great company.  So happy to get to spend time with grandparents and great grandparents.

Everyone got to enjoy their turkey induced afternoon nap.

Cooper and Cassie took turns on the couch

The day after Thanksgiving we thought that we would head down to the grove and enjoy the Christmas tree lighting.  When we got down there we noticed that there were not as many people as we expected around, then when we got to the center on the grove this is what we found.

So. . . . we walked a bit and got some hot chocolate.

At one point waiting for Kelly I noticed this scene.  A rare occasion of these two getting along and laughing together.  My mama heart was full.

Cooper enjoyed the Dog Show and wondered what Cassie was doing on the TV.

Before heading home, Grandma and Grandpa took us to the model train display in downtown Boise.  It was really cool and super impressive with all of the details and work that has been put into it.

When we got home we were treated with a nice dumping of snow and pleasantly surprised to find that some very nice neighbor had shoveled our driveway and sidewalks.
